WHAT IS VEDIC ASTROLOGY?
A zodiac that
accounts for the sky.
Vedic astrology uses the Nirayana — Sidereal Zodiac.
Unlike a zodiac based only on fixed seasonal reference points, the Sidereal Zodiac takes Earth's gradual axial precession into account, keeping the zodiac referenced to the stars.
FUN FACT
Even our calendar
Even our calendar
had to be corrected.
Over centuries, the calendar gradually drifted away from the seasonal cycle. In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII introduced the Gregorian calendar reform to correct this accumulated drift. The Sidereal Zodiac takes Earth's changing position into account, keeping the zodiac aligned with the heavens — so spring remains spring and summer remains summer, without needing periodic corrections to bring the calendar back in line.
Earth's movements matter — even when our calendars don't show them.
The Sidereal Zodiac takes Earth's precession into account.AND THEN THERE IS TIMING
Vedic astrology doesn't only ask “what?” — it asks “when?”
Planetary periods, known as Dashas, divide life into extended periods associated with different planets.
These periods can last several years, sometimes extending roughly from 6 to 20 years, depending on the planetary period and system used.
WHO IS BHRIGU?
Before AI, there were sages who looked to the heavens.
Maharishi Bhrigu is one of the ancient sages associated with the origins of Vedic astrology.
The Seven in the Sky
The Seven Sages are traditionally associated with the Great Bear — Ursa Major, a familiar constellation that has guided sky-watchers for thousands of years.
Knowledge passed forward
Maharishi Parashara is traditionally regarded as one of the great transmitters of this knowledge. His teachings became an important foundation for later Vedic astrology.
From the sages of the past to the questions we ask today, the knowledge continues to travel.
